Adelaide’s x-ray tech company Micro-X has appointed US-based executive Charlie hicks as Managing Director of their new Mobile DR business unit.
Tonsley-based high-tech manufacturers, which supply X-ray products to the defense, security and medical industries, announced the ASX appointment earlier this month as part of a broader overhaul of the management structure of the company.
Hicks has spent the past 17 years with Micro-X partner company Carestream Health in a variety of globally focused roles.
His most recent role at Carestream, based in Rochester, New York, was as Global Sales Director and Managing Director of Global X-Ray Solutions.
During his time with the medical imaging technology company, he managed new product development and international marketing.
According to Micro-X, Hicks has been involved in the launch of more than 30 new products in more than 140 countries.
In his new role, Hicks will lead one of four new “business units” established at Micro-X. The four branches cover Mobile DR, X-ray cameras, checkpoints and CT.
Micro-X chief executive Peter Rowland said Hicks understands “virtually every nuance of the global radiology industry” and is “incredibly well connected”.
“We have spent many years working closely with Charlie and are well aware of his passion for mobile and point-of-service radiography solutions and how he believes this is the future of radiography,” said Rowland.
“We are delighted that someone who has operated at this level of global leadership for so long is sharing our vision of how technology can achieve it. “
Prior to joining Carestream, Hicks spent 13 years with Kodak in various leadership roles. He was also a systems test engineer at General Electric from 1987 to 1991.
