Video game developer DICE is widely known for being behind the Battlefield franchise. His other titles include Mirror’s Edge and Star Wars Battlefront. Since 2006, the company has been a subsidiary of Electronic Arts (EA).

GOALS was first announced in August and is founded by SK Gaming co-founder Andreas Thorstensson. The title would be a bespoke, multiplayer soccer game that will use a “game model to win”. Players will be rewarded with NFTs based on time spent and individual skills.

According to a Twitter feed by Thorstensson GOALS is backed by VCs and angel investors.

Regarding his decision to join GOALS, Falguera said in a post on Linkedin: “At first I don’t think I got it, but as I listened to them it started to make more and more sense.

“The more I talked to these people, the more I realized that comparing their vision to FIFA was like comparing Microsoft Flight Simulator to dogfights in Battlefield. Sure, it flies but these aren’t really competing games. A football game. stylized with competitive and fun games in the first room is something very different from a soccer simulator.

Recently, Falguera worked on Battlefield 2042 as a general game programmer and on another project that has yet to be announced. After leaving DICE in August 2020 after an eight-year tenure, Falguera joined Zenseact as a software engineer. However, after a period of 9 months, he returned to DICE to work on the last Battlefield title.

Esports Insider Says: GOALS seeks to be a serious competitor to FIFA and eFootball, especially when it comes to esports. Having spent over 8 years with DICE, Falguera is a seasoned figure who should help improve the game to ensure that his performance matches that of other esports specific titles. An exciting date in an exciting new game in its early stages!
