Twin Towers: Senior official who scanned VRS six years ago | News from Noida

Noida: a former chief architect-planner who voluntarily retired from the Noida Authority six years ago, shortly after Allahabad’s high court ordered the demolition of the Supertech Twin Towers at Emerald Court, is among those under scrutiny as the government reviews records to determine anomalies that facilitated construction.
Sources said the official’s family members are in the real estate business and run a company that has projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Indirapuram in Ghaziabad as well as other parts of western UP.
The official was at the helm when the planning division of the Noida Authority authorized the modification of the original plan and approved twice revised maps. “Under his tenure, the town planning department approved the operation of the additional floor area ratio and increased the height of buildings (Apex and Ceyane),” a government official said on Wednesday.
Sources said the state government investigation would go through the former chief planner’s tax returns and the assets mentioned under the names of his immediate family members to estimate their annual income. “We will use retired tax department officials to estimate the value of known family assets,” the government official said.
The former chief planning architect told TOI he retired due to poor health and needed surgery. He said the sanctions were proposed in accordance with building regulations, and the team of officials from the planning division scanned the maps submitted by the developer.
The Noida authority, meanwhile, slapped a certificate of recovery of Rs 1.72 crore on Supertech for not paying the water and sanitation costs. The fine was imposed in view of the group’s services to Apex and Ceyane, officials said. The Supreme Court asked the Noida Authority to demolish the towers within three months.
